Robbie Burns Night (Sat. Feb. 1)

Join us for an evening to celebrate Robbie Burns’ 266th birthday! We will gather to enjoy Burns’ poems and songs as well as other entertainment from our Society pipers, drummers and choir. The dance program will feature dances for everyone to enjoy whether they are seasoned veterans or have never danced before.

Want to learn the dances on the program? Join us on Tuesdays (Jan 14, 21 & 28) at Northmount Baptist Church Hall (451 Northmount Dr NW, Calgary) from 7:30 to 9:30 pm to learn all the dances on the program!

Kilt Skate (Sun. Feb. 9)

We are pleased to announce that the 11th Annual Calgary Kilt Skate will take place at the new University District outdoor public ice skating rink on Sunday Feb 9th 2025 beginning at noon until 3:00pm. The new venue is nestled in the new University District next to the University of Calgary and the Calgary Children’s Hospital. It boast a large public skating rink with 3 separate gas fired outdoor fire pits, for skaters to warm up. It includes an outdoor stage and has a ice skating rental shop, in addition to being surrounded by several local bars and restaurants. As always free hot chocolate will be provided to the public during the skate.

Our planned program is to begin the festivities at noon with a welcoming statement, followed by the Calgary Caledonian Choir singing O‘Canada in English and Gaelic. Thereafter, the choir will sing a selection of favorite Scottish folk songs. Then the Scottish Highland dancers will perform, followed by a performance of the Society’s Pipers.
